Position Overview

Reporting to the Shipping Coordinator, the Driver is responsible for professional, timely and safe delivery of products with focus on customer service. Deliveries will be within Lower Mainland during training and eventually expand to customers in the Okanagan region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Shipping and Night Loading Leaders to expedite loading, shipping and transportation functions
  • Transport and offload product at customer’s facilities/job sites
  • Maintain service initiatives, targeting on-time delivery
  • Provide prompt answers to customer’s requests for materials/information
  • Pick up customer’s own glass and templates making sure they are in proper conditions to be processed
  • Consistently work as part of a team, cooperate with and support team members
  • Ensure the truck and equipment assigned is in safe and good working condition; report any problem to the Shipping Coordinator
  • Collaborate with the Shipping staff to optimized/maximized truck utilization
  • Provide feedback to the Shipping Coordinator about routes, schedules and customer’s requests
  • Perform pre-trip vehicle inspection and maintenance and maintain driver logbook
  • Perform work within Production, as required.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Training)

  • Valid Class 3 license with Airbrakes 
  • Minimum 2-3 years commercial driving experience 
  • Experience driving in inclement weather such as rain and snow
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • Experience in the glass or similar industry considered an asset
  • Ability to work 6-10 hours daily, Monday to Friday (7am start time)
  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • Ability to do overnights for out-of-town travel considered an asset

Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

  • Ability to manage time and routes for a streamlined delivery experience
  • Ability to work overtime with short notice, as situations arise
  • Ability to react to changes during the course of everyday deliveries
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting

Working Conditions

Truck and Job sites:

  • Most work is carried out on the road and behind the wheel of a truck.
  • Driving locally (training); driving as far as the Okanagan region (after training)
  • Customer job sites may include; construction site or business site.

Manufacturing Plant:

  • Temperature controlled indoor area
  • Comfortable environment with exposure to some dust, dirt or other conditions which might produce mild discomfort.
  • Frequent, short periods when it is necessary to pay close attention to the monitoring of sights and sounds.
  • Safety sensitive environment with mobile equipment and overhead cranes.
  • Most departments have a requirements to stand throughout the shift, lift, push and/or pull heavy materials.

We create custom orders to suit various requirements such as glass walls, railings, entrance systems, doors, glass for commercial and residential windows as well as marine glass applications to name a few.
